Nature view from Kala Pathar Nepal
Actual altitude of Kala Pathar is 5648
meters but if you look few different maps and guide book they told you
different. This is best place where you can see Mt. Everest (8848m.)
nearest view it is fantastic pure nature view but way to go here from
Gresk Shep is steep up is about two hours up even more it depend of
people power. When you top of Kala Pathar than you can see base camp of
Everest including view in 360 degree which you keep in your memory for
the future to come Nepal again. We would like to request please take
guide and porter for more safety through government register trekking
company legal way for more comfortable and reliable because we have lot
experience people they walking in Nepalese Himalaya by them-self always
busy to look guide book and map also lesson what other people talk about
same trip but they don’t have time to enjoy with proper view. Thanks.
The best time to see Everest from Kala
Pathar is in the morning, since there are often clouds the afternoons,
at least when I was there in May. Alternatively, if weather permits, my
guide told me other people have gone to the top in the afternoon to see
sunset (if Everest can be seen, the sun light actually reflects off
Everest in the afternoon, instead of the sun rising behind Everest in
the morning).
Dress warmly for the hike (I had gloves,
thermals, fleece, down jacket, balaclava...etc). The hike usually
starts at 5 am. The start of the hike that day was brutal - in sub zero
temperature, with wind gusts that blew snow in my face, while avoiding
falling on the slippery snow covered trail. The top of the trail is all
boulders - be really careful here not to injury yourself of course. Most
people, including myself, made it up there in a little less than 2
hours (with plenty of rests to catch air/my breath). Total time was 3
hours, including time at the top and descent (if you are fast). But if
for any reason you can't reach the top, a very good view of Everest can
already be seen half way up the mount.
The reward of these
efforts is of course a spectacular view to Everest, and is probably the
highest altitude most people would get to in their lifetime. I
definitely recommend this must do side trip while trekking to Everest
Base Camp.
